New Baby Essentials List Part 3 (Clothes and Accessories)

17 May

Clothes and Accessories

And here it is – the last but most definitely not the least! In fact, I think this one must be my favorite.

1. I swore to myself that with the next baby my very first purchase will be the swaddling blanket just because it can literally do magic! Tila was crying a lot (and I mean A LOT!) for the first three month but one thing that helped her calm down was wrapping her up tight in a thin blanket. My favorite swaddling blankets are from La Langerie but you should also check out the ones from aden+anais and MoochicBABY

2. Do invest in a good changing bag mummy – don’t think about it, you’ll be dragging around that “baby” for about 2 years at least! I love the Il Tutto bags and Tribe

3. There are too many cute blankets to only go for one and you need more anyway. The one on the picture is from Warm Pixie (lambs wool) but you should also see the ones from Klippans Yllefabrik, Ferm Living, gorgeous cashmere and fine wool mix from Garbo&Freinds and these darling bobble blankets from Rocket and Bear – what’s your favorite?

4. I fell in love with this bonnet the first time I found it on Etsy but why only have one when there are so many more just as cute like this one from Misha and Puff

5. The carrier should be used from about 4 months on but Ergobaby also makes special infant inserts with which you can carry your baby from the start. You can’t go wrong with Ergobaby it’s definitely one of the best on the market!

6. I think these Pacifier clips are just genius! Once your baby is done with it you can use it as a memento on your wrist – yes when you take down the clip it converts into a bracelet! From Fashion Loves People

7. I love having both the carrier and a wrap and I have my eyes set on these French ones called Je Porte Mon Bebe – their color combinations are crazy! And just look at the daddy on the photo – he looks darn good with that baby in a wrap! I want one! Wrap I mean!

8. Most parents use sheepskin since it makes a great soft and warm thing for lying your baby down on but I think these are even a better alternative! Organic Noonies are made from 100% organic materials and just as fuzzy and cozy as the sheepskin. And they look super cute! Ps. There are also the “non-organic” Noonies at a little more affordable prices

9. Finally, your baby will need some clothes probably. And if there are the perfect clothes for the first few months of your baby’s life it’s this tubic cotton bodysuit with snaps and sleep suits both from Petit Bateau. Undoubtedly two of the most practical and quality pieces on the market!

A special thanks again to the girls from Babyccino Kids and the Peggy from Paul & Paula for helping me with the list!

New Baby Essentials List Part 2 (Toys)

16 May

Toys

1. I’ve never got a chance to try this aden + anais Sleep and Feeding System  but it sounds like a perfect newborn gadget – it helps keeping track od feedings, it plays soothing white noise sounds and lullabies and has a room temperature indicator! What more do you need? You can get one from Noeuf or aden + anais home page

2. Love these hand knitted soft rattles from Dandelion made of pesticide-free bamboo rayon and stuffed with natural corn fiber filling. Available from Alex and Alexa

3. How lovely are these teething toys from NiHaMa, Etsy boutique? Love the pastel colors.

4. I’ve been eyeing DINGaRINGs for a long, long time. They just look so fuzzy and fun!

5. Another great product from Hevea also made of natural rubber free of any kind of toxins. Available from The Thinking Baby

6. We had this Baby Gym from Ikea for a long time. When Tila was done with lying on her back she loved exploring it and especially play with the hanging ornaments which are also great for hand motor skills as they can be taken down and put back on through holes

7. The perfect play mat. The cover is made from organic cotton, removable and can be easily washed. Inks used are non toxic, it looks absolutely gorgeous and seems muj fun! See and read even more here

8. I must admit I’m not loving the looks of this Lamaze toy but it’s one of the best tummy-time helping tools ever! Especially with babies that hate their tummy time. It helped our rebellion more than expected. But I’d say it’s for babies from 3 or even 4 months and up not newborns

Absolutely Gorgeous: MarlMarl

9 May

MarlMarl bibs

I’ve posted about this Japanese brand MarlMarl designing stylish collar style bibs already but it’s time to repeat the drill. Their collection was already gorgeous back than but now I’m speechless – they’ve added a special line of bibs called Dolce.

MarlMarl aprons

And also the most gorgeous feeding aprons I’ve seen. They are made of waterproof but breathable material and are meant to protect the clothes from food, drink, paint etc. But the best part is they don’t even look like aprons! Absolutely gorgeous.

They ship Worldwide and their shipping costs go from about €11.50. The bibs costs about €13 – €18.50 and the aprons €30

La Langerie Cloth Bibs

11 Apr

I have two swaddling blankets from La Langerie already and I absolutely love them. The perfect combination of dusty colors, simple but cute prints and super soft organic materials is something I can’t resist.

And recently I decided Tila also needs their bibs. She’s a big girl now and I think these look so much better on her than the usual ones she has had ever since she was a baby.

These are actually cotton cloths that can also be used as bibs when attaching two pacifier clips on. Besides the cute look I also love the fact how simple they are to change and wash plus this material seriously gets softer with every wash!

A set of 10 cloths and two clips costs €100 but you can also buy the cloths and pacifier clips separately.

Olilo Kids

20 Mar

Oh these kinds of things make me squeal on the inside – the last part is a lie according to my boyfriend. When we have another baby (nope, still nothing to announce yet!) I want these instead of so many baby clothes that I could easily have triplets and not worry about another piece for at least a year. And you don’t have to worry about getting me to many pairs! There’s never too many shoes in my world!

This is story is a little different than the others. Usually they start with a mommy or mommy and daddy team etc. but not this one. Janaina is one very talented individual that draws inspirations from Brazil where she was born. But her true love, the muse for all of her creations is her now 7-years old niece Chloe. Ever since she was born she felt the desire to teach her everything she knows and to create the most incredible handmade pieces for her and at the same time carry on some of the traditions in her family.

Today they are a team. While Chloe is sewing her own little bag at the same time on the other side of the worktable some of the most incredible things are coming to live under Janaina’s hands. And they help each other with tips on designs and colors. This must be one of the sweetest teams I’ve ever heard of.

Each piece is completely handcrafted in limited quantities and with the finest of materials. And if the most darling baby booties aren’t enough there’s also a whole range of unique alphabet stuffed animals and a few more baby accessories.

Olilo is based in the US but also offers international shipping which evolves somewhere between $35 and $40 (about €27 – €31) depending on your location

Irresistible Even to Me: Cloth and Thread!

4 Jan

I try to stick to my “plush toys are no more but dust collectors” belief as mush as I can but the gorgeous ones like these just make me swallow my words. I mean just look at these – I would make sure no dust comes near them on a daily basis!
I can’t get over the little details like stylish dresses I want to get made in my size, rosy cheeks and pom-poms. I don’t even have the heart to show them to Tila – she would not be able to sleep until she got one! Oh and you can even get it custom made! Oh my, oh my, I’m really pushing my temptations to the limit here…

Each made with Jenni Harley’s bare hands in Melbourne, Australia and can be shipped to you for $20 AUD (€16). Both the elephant and cat measure 55cm and each costs $110 AUD (€87) but there is a few more items you’ll want to see in Jenni’s darling Cloth and Thread boutique *double wink*

Fun*das bcn Covers

5 Nov

Olivia from Fun*das bcn wrote me an email because she thought I might like their work. She was wrong! I absolutely LOVE it! It’s a fabulous idea that (to be honest) I have heard about before but it’s the designs that really stand out from the crowd.
Fun*das bcn was found last summer by a fashion designer Arianna in order to create a line of stroller and carseat covers for leading European brands like Maclaren, Bugaboo, Maxicosi and Cybex plus some other baby accessories like Babybjörn bouncer covers, footmuffs etc. And like I said – I’ve seen it before but not even remotely as stylish as these. I just love the minimalistic, fresh and completely gender neutral prints. We have both the Bugaboo and Maxicosi that crave for new outfits whenever they get their second chance – but please don’t tell the you-know-who! It will be a surprise (witch laughing in my head)

All products are designed and produced in Spain but can be shipped worldwide

Ps. Take a peek at their Facebook photos of their products in action – you will fall in love if you haven’t already!

New Collection from Pigmée

3 Sep

Finally! I’ve been waiting for Pigmée’s new collection to hit the stores for quite some time now. Especially the new bed linen and the doudou’s (comfort toys). I just love the simplicity of designs, the darling prints and the fact that the tiniest, but most important, details like embroidery are hand made!

Florence’s inspirations are vintage fabrics, colours and forms of toys. Simple, soft and handmade touches are her main guidelines. Simply love it!

BALlab Baby Chain Cushions

20 Aug

I spotted these Baby Pillows from a brand new Danish brand called BALlab and immediately put them onto my imaginary “Must-Haves for our Baby Number 2” list! I need to have the one with the black and white stripes – love, love, love, drooling-all-over-the-place LOOOVE! And of course the fact that the cushion is made of two parts (the filling and a cover), both being washable and made from partly recycled materials (canvas cotton and natural filling) didn’t help me liking the cushion any less. I wonder if it would also work as a nursing ring…?

Available from Pipsqueak for 649 DKK (about €85) which is pretty acceptable for this kind of Baby Cushion the only thing I’m not crazy about is the P&P cost part which is 150 DKK (almost €20) but that doesn’t make me love it any less either…

Ps. Do check their pictures on Facebook to see them in action!

aden + anais Serenity Star

2 Aug

I’m a big big aden + anais fan ever since we got our first muslin and a sleeping bag! Their generously sized muslins are something I call genius! In fact, I just bought a new one last month as it comes in sooo handy as a summer blanket for Tila in this unimaginably hot weather here in south France.

And now they came up with another great product that is a definite must-have for every new mommy. It’s a multi-tasking electronic thingy that does almost everything for you: keeps track of feedings, measures temperature and even let’s you know if it’s too hot or too cold and what I like the most is the calming sound feature – besides the two lullabies it also plays white noise and a heart beat! G-e-n-i-o-u-s! Of course it also has the clock, the night light and it’s portable. And the cherry on this already very creamy top is the look – it’s just so sooo pretty and untacky – nothing like most of other thingies of this sort! LOVE!

You can get it from Noeuf or aden + anais’ site for €72.50

Ecoleeko: Organic Baby Toys

31 Jul

Colourful, fun, organic and completely and utterly cute baby rattles and toys made of materials such as organic cotton blends and renewable bamboo fleece! Plus natural fillings which is something that’s very hard to find in soft toys these days, don’t you think? Don’t get the point of having a toy made of organic whatever when it’s stuffed with polyester or something of the sort! But ok, still better than nothing I guess.

But don’t worry – Ecoleeko toys are filled with natural Kapok Fibre (obtained from a fruit tree and feels a lot like cotton but much more fluffier) and even sewn with organic cotton thread!

Shipping to Europe costs about €6

Genius Wraps: Je Porte Mon Bebe

23 May

When Tila was a baby I used to wear her in a sling and the only thing I regret is that I didn’t use it even more often and longer. Now when she is starting to grow up into a little lady-devil I really miss those times when she wanted to be carried 24/7! She absolutely hated both the pram and the push chair but she loved the sling – the combination of being close to me and wrapped up snug like a little burrito always calmed her down and made her fall asleep (wanna see?)! Always! I wish I could sleep with her in it back then, maybe that way I’d get more than two hours of undisturbed sleep. So I absolutely plan to carry my next one as often and for as long as my petiteness can handle!

I found these wraps from a French brand called Je Porte Mon Bebe (I Carry My Baby) and I admit my eye twitched for their looks first (don’t you just love the colours?) but after I looked into their use a bit more, all I can say is – genius!

Their wraps are made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex which means both breathability and stretchiness (without getting saggy), they’re big enough to be suitable for both parents, allow numerous positions (front, hip, back, lying, sitting you name it!) up until they reach 14 kg. You can easily nurse and bottle feed the baby while in the wrap and again – they are absolutely gorgeous!
Wraps come in two sizes – the long one measures 5m in length but you can cut any extra off and the short one is only 3.5m long and designed mostly for hip and back carrying. And they even have Doll Wraps – oh Tila would (will?) so love that!

Did or do you carry your baby? Which carrier/wrap/sling do you prefer?

You can order wraps directly from them for €79,90 or €59 for Short ones and shipping across France is free, €5 for the rest of the Europe.
Or you can get them from the two gorgeous online boutiques Noeuf and My Little Square

Ps. don’t worry maybe it looks like it’s complicated to put on but I guarantee you’ll master it in a matter of days! Just look at this video – that daddy is a pro, isn’t he?

Hevea Bath Toys: No Mould, No Nasties!

9 May

Oh I have been looking for this for sooo long! Tila loves rubber bath toys but they only last a few weeks or until mould gets them – don’t you hate that? Plus I’ve simply stopped buying them because she just loves to chew on them and I feel that they’re full of stuff that shouldn’t end up in her mouth like BPA, PVC, artificial colours, you-name-it- and again – mould! I don’t really get why they still make them with holes?
But these HEVEA Bath Toys are just the opposite of the above-described; 100% natural rubber latex without PVC, BPA, Phthalates, Artificial Colours and yes – holes! So these are not only safe to bathe with but we kids can chew the heck out of them without you (ok, me) worrying about the hard-to-pronounce stuff they might consume!

£19.99 (€25) pack of three at Thinking Baby

Have a teething baby in need for a teether? Look no further – this, also Hevea’s, Panda is a perfect solution.  £8.99 (€11)

Great news: Marena from Thinking Baby kindly offered all Baby Jungle readers a very generous 25% discount on all their products until the end of September! Code: JUNGLE12 Enjoy!
