Hörbert Portable Player for Kids

2 Apr

Hörbert mp3 Player

Papa Bear spotted this wooden radio in an onboard sales magazine last week and was sure I’ll like it. He was right, I do – I love it! And after you read how it works I ensure you you will too!

Hörbert is a highly sustainable portable mp3 player for kids hand crafted in Germany. It’s made from natural and non-toxic materials like wood and water-based wax finish and sturdy enough to handle the play, shakes and even drops. Four different types of wood are used for the best performance, it is super light so the kids can easily carry it around and it runs on batteries in order to play anywhere and anytime. But don’t worry – it is also energy saving so the batteries should last for about 45 hours of uninterrupted play!

Hörbert mp3 Player

How it works:
You simply transfer music or audio books on a memory card with a help of a software (both come with the player) and distribute the songs through 9 different section buttons. Two additional buttons at the bottom also allow the playback and fast forward.

There is also an option to limit the maximum volume by moving a sliding switch that is inside the radio so only parents can access. What else? Oh, each player can also be custom engraved to make it more personal and unique. Is this one perfect present for a certain (soon-to-be) 5-year-old or what? Great job Papa Bear!

You can order the player online here

Woodly: Nature Friendly Furniture

Woodly Montessori Floor Bed

I have never seen anything more beautiful than this. Not just the products but the whole concept. Listen to this:

Woodly is and Italian furniture brand based in a completely ecological and uncontaminated environment in the most gorgeous and purest of hills in Italy around Parma. Their aim is to run as ecological production as humanly possible so they only use renewable, biodegradable and non-toxic materials and finishing like wood, organic water glues and paints, beeswax and vegetable wax. But that’s not all! Their workshop also runs in an energy saving, zero impact environment. They are also trying to produce with as little waste possible. You can read more about it here.

Woodly Garden

They are surrounded with nothing but beautiful nature – just take a look at their garden! I’ve never seen anything like it. I wish I could spend my summer up there. I’d even be willing to help! Absolutely gorgeous.

Woodly products

They are making furniture, wooden toys, lamps and furnishing accessories but I have completely fallen in love with their Baby Furniture range, especially the Montessori floor bed – is this not the coolest bed you’ve seen? I want one for my baby boy! And Papa Bear has a little crush on this genius Bike Holder. This way I might even let him bring his bike inside!

Ps. You should also check out their Pinterest page – you will fall in love if you haven’t yet! I can’t stop looking at their photos! We need to plan a trip to visit them since they apparently have a bed & breakfast of my dreams!

Day 18: Primrose Doll House from Lille Huset

18 Dec

Primrose from Lille Huset

These doll houses from Lille Huset inspired by Norwegian type of houses made from birch wood and laminated recycled paperboard have a special spot in my heart. They truly are one of a kind by both their looks and the eco-friendly concept. They come with accessory sheets that let kids to determine their final look.

These sweet doll houses are made in Chicago and come packet flat and have to be put together (the most fun part!) and can also be easily taken apart again for easy storage and travel. Then there are also Little Peggies, little wooden people created by Goose Grease that fit perfectly into Lille Husets.

Wooden Camera Toys

15 Aug

AnnaSusanna

The toys kids use the most are the most simple ones – have you noticed that? These handcrafted cameras from Estonia made of wood are the perfect example. So simple yet fun and ah so so cute. I can see Tila playing with it for hours. I think she would just carry it around her neck from morning till night.

They come in four different colors and each costs €14 plus shipping (€3.50 within EU). You can place your order via email shop(AT)annasusanna.eu

S Swing from Rafa Kids

12 Jul

S Swing from Rafa Kids

How cool is this S swing from Rafa Kids? I don’t know what I like the most – its design, how fun it looks or the fact it can hold up to 120 kg – both Tila and me can swing at the same time!
The swing is made of finest birch wood, has a rubber band around it for safer bumps and is double layered with transparent lacquer so you can easily use it both inside as well as outside! They have even thought about a small but important detail like choosing the softest kind of rope and the color is on you to pick – either black or yellow.

Price of the swing is €39,50 and shipping is free! Worldwide! Yes, really!

New Baby Essentials List Part 2 (Toys)

16 May

Toys

1. I’ve never got a chance to try this aden + anais Sleep and Feeding System  but it sounds like a perfect newborn gadget – it helps keeping track od feedings, it plays soothing white noise sounds and lullabies and has a room temperature indicator! What more do you need? You can get one from Noeuf or aden + anais home page

2. Love these hand knitted soft rattles from Dandelion made of pesticide-free bamboo rayon and stuffed with natural corn fiber filling. Available from Alex and Alexa

3. How lovely are these teething toys from NiHaMa, Etsy boutique? Love the pastel colors.

4. I’ve been eyeing DINGaRINGs for a long, long time. They just look so fuzzy and fun!

5. Another great product from Hevea also made of natural rubber free of any kind of toxins. Available from The Thinking Baby

6. We had this Baby Gym from Ikea for a long time. When Tila was done with lying on her back she loved exploring it and especially play with the hanging ornaments which are also great for hand motor skills as they can be taken down and put back on through holes

7. The perfect play mat. The cover is made from organic cotton, removable and can be easily washed. Inks used are non toxic, it looks absolutely gorgeous and seems muj fun! See and read even more here

8. I must admit I’m not loving the looks of this Lamaze toy but it’s one of the best tummy-time helping tools ever! Especially with babies that hate their tummy time. It helped our rebellion more than expected. But I’d say it’s for babies from 3 or even 4 months and up not newborns

Genius Toys: Shusa Toys!

Shusha Toys

This is what I call perfect toys! Made of wood, painted with non-toxic paints and besides looking incredibly cute they also help develop skills like motor, logic, imaginations and taste (take a look at this video to see what I mean!). Made at home by a parent duo with backgrounds in graphic design and architecture. Perfect, I tell you!

Etsy: The Wooden Horse Boutique

8 Apr

I’ve mentioned The Wooden Horse Etsy boutique quite a while ago when I first spotted this gorgeous vintage inspired swing but their range has expanded quite much since then and you can only imagine how gorgeous all the other products are!

The swing is still my favorite but I also really love their whole baby range – the organic wooden rattles are just brilliant and absolutely beautiful. And how adorable is the laptop? Or the vehicles and the puzzles? And did you see their pushchairs? Oh the list just doesn’t stop… I want everything. For Tila of course. And my imaginary baby. I would only borrow a thing or two every once in a while.

Toys With a Message: ALBURNO LAST toys

26 Mar

ALBURNO is a handcraft design studio based in the north part of Italy that produces different kinds of exquisite wood items using the old, traditional techniques.

I fell in love with their wood toy range called LAST toys. Each animal carries a very important message of either being in danger of or already are extinct due to mankind’s wrong behavior.

I just love the idea of a toy that also tries to pass awareness to the youngest ones.

Currently there are three different animals in their online boutique and each costs €45. There’s also an English Leicester Sheep produced in limited quantities – only 99 were made and each is marked with its own batch number. The kit with the sheep that also comes with the wool and knitting needles costs €90

Alphabet Puzzle

6 Mar

I’m on the lookout for alphabet-learning tools and after I found this puzzle made of maple wood on Etsy I immediately ordered one – with a little bit of a twist though. First I wanted an alphabet in our mother tongue, Slovenian and I also wanted the doodles engraved under each letter to represent the sound that the letter makes.
I drew the doodles and have sent them to Sarah, the designer and she did all the rest.

I really love how it turned out and Tila loves to play with it – it’s helping her learn the letters so much and without her even realizing it. All she does is play. And I silently clap in the background!

The price of a puzzle is $29 (ca. €22) and shipping to EU comes about €15. For moderations like images under each letter will cost you a little bit extra – you can contact Sarah on sarah@simadesignstudios.com for more information

Oh WOW! Macarena Bilbao

28 Feb

I discovered this shop thanks to Maria of Babyccino Kids and had to share it with you immediately!

About two years ago Macarena made a play kitchen for her kids which brought her a few orders and so a Macarena Bilbao brand was born. Since then she’s also added a few more vintage inspired toys like Playstands, the coolest Guitars, Cameras, Phones and some Kitchen Accessories.

Everything is handmade by Macarena herself in her workshop in Tenerife and can be sent across Europe. You can actually see production time and shipping costs of each item when you click on them.

ALERT! She’s having a 25% off sale on all her Kitchens as we speak – but hurry up I’m not sure for how long!

NÄMÄ SHOP

3 Jan

I discovered NÄMÄ SHOP via this beautiful blog and I think it’s just a bit too amazing not to share it with you.
Ruth Landesa is from Finland and she’s collecting items from different kinds of local talents – from craftsmen, designers, friends to local companies etc. And there are also a few items Ruth made herself.
And you can just see how careful she is with selecting the right products for her small online boutique since each and every single one of them is absolutely gorgeous. The only bad thing is that it’s a mix of household and kids’ products so you really just want it all! Especially the weak kind of girls that have a big passion for both! Ah darn, I wish I had been better the whole last year so Santa would leave more money under my tree… Oh well, I start today!

Shipping to EU runs from €8

A Must-Have Baby Toy!

20 Dec

I remember when Tila’s choppers started to come out and just about everything (including me) looked like a perfect chewing toy to her! Well everything except the rubber teething toys we were armed with.
Then one of the moms in my mothers group introduced me to this simple yet genius teething toy, which was a simple wooden handle with a bunch of beads, attached to it by thick strings. I immediately rushed to the nearest toy store selling them and after that that was our number one toy for a really long time. It was one of the rare toys that Tila could easily hold and she sucked and bit the hell out of the beads! I think we had about three just in case one got lost (or chewed through) and one also had to stay in my purse at all times!

I found one that looks almost the same as ours at Noeuf. This truly is one of the least expensive (€15) yet most valuable baby toy out there!
